Autumn On The Prairie

 

Franklin Grove, Illinois — The Nature Conservancy’s Nachusa Grasslands preserve presents its annual AUTUMN ON THE PRAIRIE festival on the third Saturday of September,  September  18, 2010, from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m..  

Guided tours of prairie and savannas, educational exhibits, self–guided plant tours.  Ride through the prairie on a horse-drawn wagon. Activities include live music, local artists at work, and a children’s tent

This free event is open to the public, donations are appreciated. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase. There is no rain date.

The preserve is located 3 miles northwest of Franklin Grove, on Lowden Road.  Extra directional signs will be posted.  Franklin Grove is two hours west of Chicago, and is celebrating that same day with three historical attractions nearby.  To contact the preserve call 815-456-2340 or visit the TNC web site at www.nature.org/illinois or nachusagrasslands.org
