Volunteer Stewards
Volunteer Unit Stewards
Nourished by the fresh air and the beautiful and ever–changing scenery, Nachusa’s stewards work with one another in a vibrant community, forging lasting friendships and strong relationships as advocates for land conservation. Stewardship often involves physical exercise, and it feels good. The labor has a calming and relaxing effect as stewards work with their hands in the soil in communion with nature — enjoying the abundant butterflies, uncommon birds, and iconic bison around them. The results of restoration are exciting and tangible, as new habitats quickly emerge and create new homes for species that have been in a downward spiral. Steward work is ongoing and impacts generations to come. Interested? Join us on a Thursday or Saturday workday and see what Nachusa stewardship is all about.
