Friends of Nachusa Grasslands Social Media Commenting Policy
While we encourage fans to share thoughts and opinions on Friends of Nachusa Grasslands’ social media pages and blog, we expect that all comments will be done in a respectful manner. We do not expect everyone to agree, but when there is disagreement, we expect discussions to be respectful, polite, and kind.
Friends of Nachusa Grasslands does not agree with or endorse every comment that individuals post on our pages. Our goal is to share ideas and information with our community, and our policy is to accept the majority of comments made to our profiles.
Therefore, a comment will be deleted if it contains:
The Friends Facebook page is not a forum for questioning The Nature Conservancy's management decisions, nor is it a place to question the decisions made by active volunteers of Friends of Nachusa Grasslands. Friends is an all-volunteer organization with the focused goal of supporting the project, not disparaging it.
All links posted as comments on Friends of Nachusa Grasslands posts will be reviewed and may be deleted.
Repeated violations of the Friends of Nachusa Grasslands comment policy may cause the author to be blocked from the Friends of Nachusa Grasslands’ social media profiles.
We understand that social media is a 24/7 medium; however, our moderation capabilities are not. We may not see every inappropriate comment right away, and we are trusting in the maturity of our community to ignore personal attacks and negative speech or respond politely.

Therefore, a comment will be deleted if it contains:
- Hate speech
- Profanity, obscenity, or vulgarity
- Personal attacks or name calling
- Harassment and bullying
- Rudeness, insults, or hostility
- Nudity
- Comments whose main purpose is to sell a product
- Comments that include "friend" requests
- Comments that infringe on copyrights
- Spam comments, such as the same comment posted repeatedly on a profile
- Content that is clearly off-topic. Please stay on topic and do not use our forum to focus on your own agenda. Comments will be removed that deliberately take the post in a different direction from its intent.
- Trolling harassment – sending damaging and insulting remarks disguised as constructive criticism in an attempt to attract attention and consume Friends’ time.
- Other comments that the Friends of Nachusa Grasslands Social Media team deems inappropriate, such as, but not limited to:
- Long monologues
- Comments with an intent to undermine the volunteer and staff projects
- Comments that seek to draw responders into a never-ending argument
