To volunteer at Nachusa Grasslands, there's no need to complete a volunteer application. Volunteers have diverse backgrounds, wide ranging skills and abilities, and above all, have a strong desire to make a difference.
Volunteers participate in many, if not all, aspects of managing and restoring habitat, leading tours, and running events. Volunteers are treated as colleagues and are given training at the same level as staff. Volunteers may even work with chainsaws, tractors, and participate in controlled burns if they have the ability and pass safety and online training. Information about specific activities can be found on the Volunteer Opportunities page. |
Getting Started
Saturday morning workdays are a great way to begin volunteering and learning all about what happens at Nachusa. Activities vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions. Learn more about Work Days here. Advanced Volunteers who have the desire to lead restoration efforts are encouraged to become land stewards. Information about stewardship and how to become one can be found on the Stewardship page. |
