Tour or Field Trip Request Form
Thank you for your interest in The Nature Conservancy’s Nachusa Grasslands! This is a privately funded “working” preserve dedicated to restoring habitat for the native plants and animals of northern Illinois.
Most of our guided tours and field trips are conducted by volunteers, and currently the demand for these tours and field trips exceeds our resources. Therefore, priority usually goes to conservation and environmental education groups.
Individuals and families should consider signing up for the Friends of Nachusa Grasslands free monthly public bison tours. The tours can be reserved on the Public Bison Tours website page. The tours are offered by The Nature Conservancy volunteers from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on various Saturdays from May to October. These very popular tours are posted on the first of each month, so sign up early to secure a spot.
You can also visit Nachusa on your own. Check this link for information on Self-Guided Tours.
To request a tour for your conservation and environmental education group, fill out the form below, which will be reviewed by TNC staff. Our challenge is finding volunteers to lead these tours, so filling out the form does not guarantee you a tour. Many tour requests go unfilled because we cannot find a leader. However, if approved by staff, your request will be sent to our tour leaders to find a match for your group and time availability. We will let you know if anyone volunteers to lead your tour.
